Organizational Affiliation
We would like to invite your organization to join the most exciting, grassroots statewide senior organization in California.
The California Alliance for Retired Americans (CARA) celebrated our fifth year in October 2008, and we are proud of our many accomplishments. In just five years we have grown to represent over 800,000 seniors through our 160 affiliated organizations, working to improve the quality of life for seniors and their families. We are the California affiliate to the 3.5 million member national organization, the Alliance for Retired Americans.
2009 will be a critical year for seniors in this State and Country. Having just elected a new President, and Representatives at the state and national level – we will have an opportunity to educate them about the issues of importance to seniors and their families. CARA will need to be front and center – in local communities through our CARA Action Teams, and in the State Capitol, through our Legislative Committee to bring our issues to the policymakers and elected officials.
Our goal is to recruit every union retiree organization and community based senior organization to affiliate with CARA – and the time is NOW! We must come together quickly and energetically to confront the many issues facing us:

Please have your organization consider affiliating with CARA. Your membership will entitle your organization to vote on important CARA decisions. It will connect you with important information in a timely way with concrete suggestions on how to act effectively on critical issues. All of your members will be entitled to receive CARA’s monthly Alert and you will be connected to the CARA Action Team (CAT) in your area. Your organization will also get the national Alliance for Retired Americans “Friday Alert” to keep you informed and abreast of important national issues.
You do not want to miss this opportunity to have your organization’s voice heard on local, state, and national issues. With all our voices together, we can improve the quality of life for seniors.

Individual Membership
If you do not belong to an organization that is affiliated with CARA, but are interested in getting involved in the issues we work on, we have an individual membership option for $10 per year. You will get all of the information that is listed under the organizational affiliation, and are invited to come to our local CAT meeting in your area. You can sign up using the membership form on this webpage.

Seniors are the fastest growing part of our population. We have an amazing opportunity to help frame the issues facing us, and develop policies that support our aging population at the local, state, and national levels.
